Volunteers collaborate in the organization of the Copaíba Forest Nursery

This past Friday morning (18), volunteers from the Copaíba Environmentalist Association got together for an important action – to collaborate with the organization of the Viveiro.

The production of native seedlings demands care and attention. The mission of this group was to contribute to the cleaning of the weeds that grow together with the seedlings in the tube. In this period of the year, when there is a lot of rain, this process is more intense and the seedlings need to be free of these competitors in order to develop with quality.

The task force, formed by a group of 10 people, was ready for action and everyone put their “hands on”, knowing that from there, all those seedlings will be destined to the formation of new forests.

For Fernando Marcos Sartori, who despite having lived with his wife Magali for many years in Scotland, a country where volunteering is quite common, this was his first experience as a volunteer. “It was very enriching! Even having no experience in the area, I felt good to be able to help in an important work, doing something good and positive”, comments the volunteer grateful for the opportunity.

Gratitude is reciprocal. The institution thanks these and all other volunteers who collaborate so that its mission of conserving and restoring the Atlantic Forest of the Peixe and Camanducaia river basins is accomplished.
