Who can participate in Copaíba volunteer work?
It is not just those who are “experts” in some area who can participate. Quite the contrary: everyone can contribute. What counts is solidary motivation, the desire to help, the pleasure of feeling useful.
Volunteering is a spontaneous, joyful, pleasurable and rewarding experience. Those who participate donate their energy, time and talent, but gain a lot in return: human contact, the opportunity to interact with different people, learning new skills, the satisfaction of feeling part of a broad and significant movement.
Volunteering reinforces solidarity and contributes to building a more just and humane society.

Upon completion of your work schedule we will issue a Volunteer Certificate and we will carry out a process evaluation.
Why do I need to prepare to be a volunteer/volunteer?
When we think about volunteering, we usually have an immediate desire to start, but it is necessary to know and understand the institution, its functioning, routine and demands, to prepare and organize itself to be able to contribute and optimize the learning of both parties. The experience of volunteering is always an exchange between the institution that receives and the volunteer that gives.
Volunteering at the Copaíba Forest Nursery
Throughout the year we receive volunteers for activities at Viveiro da Copaíba.
We have some criteria for receiving volunteers here:
- Be over 18 years of age;
- Have life insurance (or be ready to do it);
- In the case of foreigners, communicate in Portuguese and have a valid passport;
- Sign the “Term of Volunteering” prepared based on the Volunteering Law (Law 9.608 of 02/18/98) before starting activities.
These activities are programmed according to the routine needs of the nursery and vary according to the time of year. In addition to contributing to the production of seedlings, the volunteer learns the basics of the different stages of the process.
Aprendizados que podem ser contemplados:
- Recognition of Atlantic Forest species;
- Logistics of a nursery of native seedlings;
- Seed improvement;
- Maintenance and recognition of seedlings;
- Organization of seedlings;
- Separation of seedlings in the Nursery and its importance for the formation of new forests;
- The importance of reusing materials in the Nursery (substrates and tubes).
O Viveiro Florestal Copaíba fica localizado em nossa sede, a uma distância de 20 km da cidade de Socorro e cerca de 15 km da cidade de Monte Alegre do Sul. Os voluntários precisam chegar até a Copaíba com condução própria e podem utilizar o refeitório para preparação do seu alimento.
