A Lesson in Citizenship, Environmental Awareness and Inclusion: Students and Teachers from APAE de Socorro visit the Copaíba Environmental Association
On November 10th, the Association of Parents and Friends of the Disabled (APAE) of Socorro brought its Environmental Project to a memorable end, providing an enriching experience for its students and teachers. The final stage of the project consisted of a visit to the Associação Ambientalista Copaíba, where participants were able to broaden their horizons and engage more deeply with nature.
Copaíba, known for its commitment to conservation, restoration and environmental education, opened its doors to welcome APAE students and teachers. The period was full of educational activities, presenting visitors with a practical and inspiring vision of the efforts necessary to preserve and protect the environment.
During the visit, APAE students actively participated in activities, such as the moment they dispersed Ipê seeds throughout the Copaíba fields. “Just as seeds dispersed by the wind take life to other places, everyone who passes through here takes knowledge and spreads love and respect for nature, making hope sprout wherever they go”, commented Environmental Educator, Tatiana Terasin, responsible for visits and for receiving them. The interaction between APAE students and members of the Copaíba Environmental Association highlighted how diversity can enrich the collective understanding of environmental challenges and solutions.
APAE Social Educator, Alaíde Gasperi Casagrande, expressed her gratitude for the visit and said that “it was an incredible experience for the class, they were able to get to know and experience the day to day life of Copaíba.” While the Teacher, Maria da Glória Franceschetti Carrano, highlighted the relevance of the Environment project for the integral development of students. “We and our students had the opportunity to experience a welcoming space, have contact with nature and learn positive attitudes towards the environment in which we live. Visiting Viveiro Florestal Copaíba was a great experience.”
The students were also excited about the visit. “I LOVED DISCOVERING DIFFERENT SEEDS AND THE SOUNDS THEY MAKE. I PLANT A SEED AND IT WILL BE A BIG AND STRONG TREE” said one of them.
An initiative that goes beyond formal learning, aiming to create a collective awareness of the importance of preserving our planet for future generations, with space for everyone, regardless of their abilities, to actively contribute to this purpose.
Diversity is our greatest strength.
