Landowners in the region can receive seedlings of native trees for free

The Copaíba Environmental Association continues with Verde Novo, a project sponsored by Petrobras, through the Petrobras Socio-environmental Program. Through it, Copaíba donates native seedlings to landowners in the region interested in recovering their native forests, protecting their springs, or even voluntarily adapting their property to the environment.

Landowners who are interested in maintaining the quality of water on their properties can look for Copaíba to receive the seedlings. The planting of seedlings on the banks of streams or springs can ensure a noticeable improvement in production and water quality. “The recovery of the forests is an important strategy that will guarantee the quality of the water on the property and it will contribute to the supply of water from the springs. The solution is not immediate, but in a few years, there are great improvements”, highlighted the coordinator of Verde Novo, Flávia Balderi.

Planting has already started and so has the registration! Registration is open to small and large properties that, together, make a difference in the conservation of the Atlantic Forest.

After evaluating the area, Copaíba technicians also offer guidance before, during and after planting, making several visits to the property.

The seedlings are delivered to the partnership properties, already fertilized, avoiding this cost to the landowner. In addition to the seedlings, the owners also receive inputs to help with planting, such as hydrogel and ant to control ants.

The advantages for the property are not limited to water conservation. The forest on the property adds economic value, mainly by contributing to the occurrence of ecosystem services, such as pollination that increases fruit production and the natural control of crop pests. The forest brings with it a diversity of insects and natural predators and this positively favors the ecological balance of the property.
