New Copaíba headquarters in operation
New Copaíba headquarters in operation
Two years ago, the Copaíba Environmental Association received as a donation, a private property located in the Pedra Branca neighborhood, in Socorro/SP. Eliane Vaz Guimarães and Eliane Aparecida Silva were responsible for this noble action.
Both, sensitized to the environmental cause, had a dream that the property would be used for nature conservation. Thanks to this dream, together with the ideals of Copaíba that today, the institution is operating in its own area.
With almost 60,000m2, the new institutional headquarters has adequate space for environmental awareness actions and enough area to expand the production of native seedlings in the new Forest Nursery installed. Thus, with more space and more seedlings in production, new areas will be restored throughout the region.
In addition, the “Copaíba space” has a forest in formation that is being used for forest conservation. This forest that occupies 40% of the property is awaiting approval from the State Department for the Environment to become a RPPN – Private Natural Heritage Reserve. Every Conservation Unit has its conservation guaranteed by law. These are areas with relevant natural characteristics for conservation purposes.
Copaíba is open to visitors and invites everyone to visit the new institutional space. Opening hours are from 7:30 am to 5 pm. For service at the Forest Nursery, the opening hours are until 4 pm.
