Copaíba signs new partnerships for forest restoration

Published On: 28 de March de 2018

Verde Novo, a project carried out by Copaíba, sponsored by Petrobras, through the Petrobras Socio-environmental Program, aims to contribute to the forest restoration of the Peixe and Camanducaia river basins. This is done by supporting landowners, donating native seedlings, supplies and all the technical assistance necessary for the recovery of the area.

To help publicize this initiative and encourage new landowners to participate in this action, Copaíba has entered into partnerships with different segments of society and also with municipal public bodies in the region.

Recently, some meetings were held to present Verde Novo, among them, a meeting organized with residents and producers of the Jabuticabal neighborhood, in Socorro. Participants had the opportunity to learn about how seedling donations work and how Copaíba can support the recovery of forests on their properties.

In other meetings, where it was possible to bring together members of CATI (Coordination of Integrated Technical Assistance), from the Campinas and Mogi Mirim regions, the discussions were focused on seeking strategies to expand support for forest restoration on Itapira properties. In Bueno Brandão/MG, there was also a meeting with some municipal councilors, who are mobilizing to stimulate forest restoration in the municipality. Thus, through this mobilization, more landowners will have access to information and will be able to participate in the project.

Landowners interested in recovering native forests on their properties can receive seedlings and support from Copaíba free of charge. To do this, just contact the institution and register. For more information click on here.
