More than 3 thousand students sensitized to the conservation of the Atlantic Forest in the Municipality of Socorro
The Verde Novo Project, sponsored by Petrobras through the Petrobras Socio-environmental program, carried out by Copaíba, has been carrying out the reforestation of more than 15 municipalities between the Peixe and Camanducaia River Basins through a partnership with landowners in the region and raising awareness among public school students and elementary and high school private individuals for almost 10 years.
Since the beginning of the project, in 2001, more than 3,000 students from different schools have been sensitized in Socorro alone, who also had the opportunity to learn a little more about the institution and its areas of activity.
All content presented to students is programmed in a specific way, pedagogically respecting and adapting activities to the age group of students. All activities are guided and monitored by an Environmental Educator and to enrich the discussions on native tree species, fruits and seeds from trees in the region are observed and handled.
Students also take the trail in Copaíba's RPPN (Private Natural Heritage Reserve), in the process of restoration, being able to have direct contact with nature and following in practice various processes discussed in theory. Living in the reserve allows participants to be close to the natural environment, in a proposal to raise their awareness about the importance of nature conservation.
