Environmental experience, opportunity for students in the region

Published On: 20 de February de 2019

For some time now, the Copaíba Environmental Association has been carrying out an important work to raise environmental awareness with students in the region of the Peixe and Camanducaia river basins.

This year the proposal is to bring students to experience in practice knowledge that is often only theoretical, worked in classrooms. The activities aim to encourage students to conserve nature. In the experience, students closely follow the production of seedlings of native trees, carry out recreational activities that arouse curiosity about environmental issues, learn about seeds of native trees and talk about the importance of defending the Atlantic Forest.

With forest and green areas, the institutional headquarters has adequate space for environmental experiences, in which students have the opportunity to get to know the educational trail, observe birds and animals in the region, have contact with different species of trees, visiting an area in process of restoration. “Environmental experience is the union of fun and knowledge, with dynamics and the time they spend here, students get excited and share what they learn with each other”, says Tatiana Oliveira, Environmental Educator at Verde Novo.

Generally, the themes are worked on in the classroom with the teachers and, arriving at Copaíba, the study is complemented by the practice experienced by the students. Copaíba believes that these children, naturally multipliers of knowledge and information, will be able to pass this on to their families.

Elementary and high school students from schools located in the Rio do Peixe and Rio Camanducaia basins will be able to participate in the “Knowing the Nursery” activity. To participate, it is enough for Directors, Coordinators or Professors to contact the institution.

Copaíba is open to visitors and invites everyone to get to know the environmental awareness activities and our RPPN. Opening hours are from 8 am to 4 pm. Scheduling visits can be made by calling (19) 9 9953-8382 or by e-mail to [email protected].
