The municipality of Socorro has been increasingly sought after by people who want tranquility and contact with nature in cities in the interior. With Benedito Neves it was no different. Living in ABC Paulista for almost 50 years, the owner decided to take care of the farm in Socorro and move as soon as he retired.

Although he is not yet definitively living on the farm, Benedito comes whenever he can and brings the whole family. In one of these visits, the owner's daughters took the initiative to increase the native forest on the property, so they sought Copaíba to carry out reforestation through the Verde Novo project sponsored by Petrobras through the Petrobras Socio-environmental program.

Mônica and Rafaela registered their father in the project in February of this year and in March the seedlings were already being planted. With the reforestation of the area, Benedito will benefit not only the animals and the landscape of the site, but also the water source. The owner encourages more landowners to participate in the project “There are many areas that must be reforested here in Socorro and each owner should plant at least a few trees on their farms and ranches. The city needs to have more forest preserved”.
