Plantio celebrates society's participation in Ecological Restoration

Published On: 19 de May de 2021

The Mais Vida no Parque Campaign was launched by Copaíba in March and was planted with fruit trees in the Park's orchard area on May 7, 2021.
The campaign was carried out to include society in the City Hall's Mosaic of Urban Forests Project, which is being implemented through the Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainable Development, in partnership with Copaíba.

The Campaign that mobilized the entire population to plant trees in Parque da Cidade, in addition to collaborating to make the Park a more appropriate place for sports and leisure, with more shade and contact with nature in the daily lives of Socorrenses, also had fundamental role in making people aware of the importance of preserving nature for the quality of life of all residents of the municipality.

Companies and people had the opportunity to contribute to the transformation of the Park, a public space, used by the entire population. It was a real gift for Socorro and for the Socorrenses. Those who participated will keep this planting in memory, for life.

Some companies and people forgot and missed the date, but they can contribute at any time, Copaíba transforms every donation into planted trees.
The difference is that we will plant the seedlings in rural areas to recover springs, hilltops and riparian forests throughout the region. As important as planting in the Park, as the benefits of restoration are always reflected in the collective.

The people and companies that participated in the Mais Vida no Parque Campaign will certainly be proud and will visit the seedlings they have planted over the years, to follow the development. And all those who go to the Park will be grateful when they recognize the many benefits that the new trees will bring, facts that provide greater satisfaction and appreciation of the public space by the population.
The ecological restoration also makes the Park one more option for studying the environment, to be carried out with children and young people in schools.

It is important to remember that both the Campaign and the Restoration Project mark the participation of society and the municipality in the global campaign of the Decade of Ecosystem Restoration, instituted by the UN - United Nations - and celebrates Socorro-SP's adhesion to the movement national program, Pact for the Restoration of the Atlantic Forest.

In the first stage of the Urban Forests Mosaic Project, more than 8 thousand seedlings were planted in five hectares in the Park. The total of the Project foresees the recovery of 20.6 hectares with the planting of around 30 thousand seedlings.

Civil society, through the participation of 29 individuals and 26 companies, planted 372 seedlings of trees native to the Atlantic Forest through the Mais Vida no Parque Campaign.

The Campaign's objective was also to encourage neighboring municipalities to carry out ecological restoration with the involvement of society and the commitment of municipal management, as it is a partnership that works. The point of attention is the maintenance of the seedlings, for at least two years, so that they become trees and bring benefits to the population and the environment.

In Parque da Cidade de Socorro, the City Hall took responsibility for the maintenance of the planting area, but this is a duty of all visitors. That's why Copaíba emphasizes the importance of everyone acting to protect the seedlings, staying only on the trails in the areas under restoration and keeping vehicle traffic only in permitted places, so as not to compromise the small trees, which are so important for everyone.

Congratulations to all participants for being part of this story with a gift that benefits all Socorrenses.
These trees symbolize social responsibility, care, value, love and sincere wishes for a better future for Socorro.
