NGO Socorrense is named the best Environment NGO in Brazil
Last Tuesday, 18th, Instituto Doar, in partnership with Fundação Getúlio Vargas, held the award for the Best NGOs of 2019 at Teatro J. Safra, São Paulo. The third edition of the event had the participation of several institutions from all over Brazil that were evaluated based on criteria such as: administrative and financial structure, having management and accountability councils, and transparency in the management of resources.
Of the 757 organizations registered, Associação Ambientalista Copaíba was among the 100 best NGOs of 2019 and also received the award for best NGO of 2019 in the Environment category. The institution is located in the municipality of Socorro and has been working for 20 years in defense of the Atlantic Forest of the Peixe and Camanducaia river basins, between the south of Minas and the east of São Paulo. In addition to the production of native seedlings, the NGO serves more than 15 municipalities carrying out forest restoration projects and environmental experiences with students from municipal and state schools in the region.
Marcelo Estraviz, president of Instituto Doar, comments on the importance of the award for institutions and for those who contribute, “Our objective is to engage more people and strengthen the culture of donation, reinforcing the reliability of each organization. When we point out, through the award, which entities have excelled in resource management, we are certifying that it is safe to donate and encouraging other entities to follow transparent management models”.
