This month, Copaíba concludes another shipment of 50,000 seedlings supplied to the municipality of Extrema/MG, for the Conservador das Águas project, carried out by the City Hall. The Copaíba Forest Nursery provides seedlings of native trees on a monthly basis for this project.

To date, Copaíba alone has supplied more than 400,000 seedlings to Conservador das Águas, which has already planted more than 1,000,000 seedlings of native trees for the conservation of water sources in the municipality of Extrema. This region is very important as a supplier of water to the Cantareira System.

For over 10 years, the Prefecture of Extrema has been supporting and financially remunerating rural landowners who restore and protect the surroundings of their springs. The aim is to recover forests to conserve water, as the region is considered a major water producer.

These seedlings are provided through the partnership that Copaíba has with Fundação SOS Mata Atlântica, through the Clickarvore Program.

In addition to the municipality of Extrema, other municipalities and several landowners in the region have already benefited from seedlings from this initiative.
