This week Copaíba received another group of students interested in deepening their knowledge about the environment and the importance of nature conservation.

The participants were students from the 3rd year of Elementary School at the Benedita Geralda Municipal School, in Socorro/SP. The group, full of energy, had the opportunity to visit the facilities of the Copaíba headquarters and also the Viveiro Florestal.

It's fun and educational at the same time. Students learn and discover processes that occur in nature in a playful and practical way. The approach ranges from the dispersion of fruits and seeds, through all stages of seedling production, to the functions of the riparian forest. With dynamics and their own experience for a few hours at Copaíba, the students get excited and share what they learn with each other.

Generally, the themes are worked on in the classroom with the teachers and, arriving at Copaíba, the study is complemented by the practice experienced by the students. In this case, the class teacher, Fernando Montini, is developing a project with the school. “The idea came from an article developed by us, masters students at ESCAS – Escola Superior de Conservação Ambiental e Sustentabilidade, which deals with how to work with scientific education based on environmental issues, approaching with students from how an environmental problem is analyzed, what are the data collected, how to proceed and which professionals are involved in the subject”, explains Fernando. Thus, the forest restoration work developed by Copaíba complements one of the contents worked by the professor.
