Copaíba welcomes students at Viveiro Florestal
The Copaíba Environmentalist Association carries out an important work to raise environmental awareness with students in the region of the Peixe and Camanducaia river basins.
This action aims to encourage, in students, practices aimed at nature conservation. Through “KNOWING THE VIVEIRO”, students closely follow the nursery routine, learn about the seedling production process and carry out recreational activities that arouse curiosity about environmental issues and the importance of defending the Atlantic Forest.
This week Copaíba received some classes from two schools in the region: Escola Viverde and Escola Municipal de Águas de Lindóia, Professor Ivan Galvão de França. Altogether, during the week, 80 students visited the nursery and took with them information that will help to complement classroom learning and also some experiences for their lives.
For the teacher at Escola Viverde, Vera Inês de Freitas Gesuato, it is important to encourage learning through practical activities. “With the visit they make the connection between the theoretical and the practical. Smells, textures, everything becomes more meaningful”, says the teacher.
Copaíba believes that these children, naturally multipliers of knowledge and information, will be able to pass this on to their families. Thus, learning is reinforced with experience. “I learned that when there are no plants on the riverbank, the earth falls to the bottom of the river, increasing the volume and causing flooding. When you have plants, they protect! It looks beautiful, purifies the air and protects the rivers. They are very beautiful and important for the environment”, comments student Beatriz Monteiro Hiunes Rodriguez (8 years old).
Elementary and high school students from schools located in the Rio do Peixe and Rio Camanducaia basins will be able to participate in the “Knowing the Nursery” activity. To participate, it is enough for Directors, Coordinators or Professors to contact the institution.
Scheduling visits can be done by calling (19) 3895-8382 or by e-mail. [email protected].
