Meeting in Socorro offered practical learning about environmental conservation and ecological restoration techniques
Committed to transforming degraded areas into forests, the Copaíba Environmental Association held a free, hands-on workshop on identifying, collecting, and processing native Atlantic Forest seeds on September 12th. The meeting took place at the organization's headquarters in the Pedra Branca neighborhood of Socorro, São Paulo, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The activity was designed for those who want to learn about the process of collecting fruits and seeds from native trees, with technical and practical guidance in the field. In addition to promoting the exchange of experiences, the workshop sought to foster connection with nature and encourage biodiversity conservation actions, as highlighted by Flávia Balderi, Coordinator of the Nursery of the Copaíba Environmental Association.
"Seed collection is a fundamental step in producing quality seedlings and strengthening ecological restoration projects. The idea behind this workshop was to demonstrate that anyone can contribute to the conservation of the Atlantic Forest by learning simple yet essential techniques for maintaining our biodiversity," says Flávia Balderi.
