Copaíba accompanies and monitors areas undergoing forest restoration

Published On: 12 de January de 2019

Copaíba has recently been monitoring several areas in the process of
forest restoration projects carried out by the institution itself. The last
monitoring carried out were from the projects “Restoration of riparian forests of springs and
watercourses in the Rio do Peixe basin” and “Forest Restoration of springs and streams
tributaries of the Rio do Peixe”, contracts FEHIDRO 292/2014 (code MOGI 417) and FEHIDRO
186/2015 (Mogi 476).
The visits of Copaíba's technical team aim to monitor and evaluate the progress
of the projects in the field, to know if the seedlings are developing and if the area is having
success with the restoration results. Analyzes are carried out on the development of
seedlings, to ensure that actions are taken if there is a need for any intervention.
These projects are contributing to the forest restoration of the Rio do Peixe basin,
important tributary of the Mogi Guaçu River.
There are more than 28 thousand seedlings planted in three properties. The areas are located in
around several springs and tributary streams of the Rio do Peixe. “The forests that are
being formed in these properties bring an important gain to the basin. are these
forests that in the future will be contributing to the conservation of water quality,
comments Ana Paula Balderi, project coordinator”
