Bairro das Três Barras receives native seedlings and contributes to forest recovery in Serra Negra/SP
Recently, another planting of native tree seedlings was supported in Serra Negra through the actions of the Copaíba Environmental Association. This time, the seedlings were donated to the Três Barras neighborhood. More than 1,000 new trees are growing in the neighborhood and soon, a new forest will be forming there.
The idea came from the owner Sinésio Beghini, who sought Copaíba to support his initiative to protect the headwaters of the property, the Santa Luzia site. The Sítio's forest restoration project also aims to expand the areas of native vegetation, thus contributing to water conservation.
In all, approximately 30,000 m2 of areas will be restored, where just over 6,000 seedlings will be planted. “With these seedlings, which are being planted at Sítio Santa Luzia, we completed the first 10,000 seedlings planted with the support of the Verde Novo project, in this new phase. Many seedlings will still be planted and we hope that the owners of Serra Negra have more participation and take advantage of the opportunity of support that Copaíba is offering”, comments the coordinator of the Verde Novo project, Flávia Balderi.

Verde Novo is a project carried out by Copaíba, sponsored by Petrobras, through the Petrobras Socio-environmental Program. Its objective is to contribute to the forest restoration of the Peixe and Camanducaia river basins. This is done by supporting landowners, donating native seedlings, supplies and all the technical assistance necessary for the recovery of the area.
Landowners in the region interested in recovering the forests on their properties can contact Copaíba to receive support. Registration is done at the institution's headquarters.
