Positive results were achieved through the Roots of Mogi Guaçu and Adopt a Forest programs
The rainy season, typical of the southwest region of the country between October 2024 and April 2025, ended with significant results for the Copaíba Environmental Association, which consolidated another cycle of actions aimed at the ecological restoration of the Atlantic Forest. During the period, the NGO planted 98,172 native seedlings in 108.86 hectares of degraded areas, directly involving 13 rural landowners in ecological restoration activities.
The actions were carried out as part of the Raízes do Mogi Guaçu (Roots of Mogi Guaçu) program — an initiative by WWF Brazil and Sylvamo with the support of One Tree Planted — and Adote uma Floresta (Adopt a Forest), which have the support of national and international partners, such as the companies Jungheinrich Brasil, Grupo BEXP – Comercio de Veículos LTDA (Porsche, Audi and Jeep) and Emporio Armani. The plantings took place in the municipalities of Bueno Brandão (MG), Socorro, Serra Negra, Itapira, Monte Alegre do Sul and Amparo (SP) — areas considered a priority by the Association for the conservation of biodiversity and the protection of water resources in the Serra da Mantiqueira region.
In addition to restoration, Copaíba's efforts resulted in the protection of 23 springs and the recovery of 10,669 linear meters of stream banks, strengthening local water security and ecosystem services fundamental to environmental balance.
“The season was challenging, but extremely productive. We worked on different fronts with the support of committed owners and partners who believe in restoration as a path to a more sustainable future,” highlights the organization’s technical team.
The cycle also included the maintenance of areas restored in previous years, an essential action to ensure the healthy development of the forests that have been planted. With the end of the season, Copaíba celebrates the progress made and reaffirms its commitment to the regeneration of the Atlantic Forest, which has already planted more than one million trees since the organization was founded.
