Copaíba celebrates the restoration of 3,000,000 m2 of Atlantic Forest
More than 300 soccer fields are being transformed into forests in the Peixe and Camanducaia river basins.
Over 16 years of work, Associação Ambientalista Copaíba has already started the forest restoration of more than 3,000,000 m2 of Atlantic Forest. This all happens through projects that are developed by the institution, with the support of various sources of sponsorship and financing.
A few days ago, another planting of native trees was completed. More than 12,000 new trees are now growing at Fazenda Santo Antonio, in the Lavras de Cima neighborhood, in Socorro/SP. The property has 10 springs, which are protected from this action, in addition to the streams that are also in the process of recovery.
This work is part of the project “Restoration of riparian forests of springs and watercourses in the Rio do Peixe basin”, approved by the Mogi Guaçu River Basin Committee, with resources from FEHIDRO (contract 292/2014 -, MOGI Code 417).
Recovering the springs of rural properties is an action that everyone can and should do. “The riparian forest plays a great role in the protection of water courses and is a fundamental factor for the preservation of water, in quantity and quality, however, its degradation can be considered as one of the main causes of the water crisis that the State of São Paulo has been living”, comments Ana Paula Balderi, coordinator of the Copaíba Forest Restoration.
For more information or interest in recovering the springs or streams on the property, contact us by phone (19) 3895-8382, by email at [email protected] or at Copaíba headquarters, Rodovia Capitão Barduino 788, Socorro- SP
