We are ending another period of the waters. Even with some sparse rains, the planting of native seedlings supported by Copaíba continues. During this period, more than 17 thousand seedlings of trees of native species were donated to landowners in the region of the Peixe and Camanducaia river basins.

The seedlings were planted in fifteen properties in the municipalities of Socorro/SP, Serra Negra/SP, Pedra Bela/SP, Itapira/SP, Monte Alegre do Sul and Bueno Brandão/MG. And there are more seedling donations happening. In addition to the seedlings, the partner owners receive, free of charge, the inputs to assist in the planting and the technical project and all the technical assistance and follow-up for the development of the seedlings. For two years, after planting, Copaíba's technical team supports the periodic visit to the properties for this follow-up.

This is done through Verde Novo, a project carried out by Copaíba, sponsored by Petrobras, through the Petrobras Socio-environmental Program, which aims to contribute to forest restoration in the Peixe and Camanducaia river basins.

Copaíba has supported many people. For the institution, it is a great possibility to expand the recovery of forests in the region. “It's an incredible opportunity that we offer to landowners in the region. In this partnership, we add strength and share lessons learned, so that together we can recover native forests. Not to mention that we are taking a very important action, contributing to the conservation of water sources”, comments Flávia Balderi, coordinator of the Verde Novo project.

Landowners interested in recovering native forests on their properties can receive seedlings and support from Copaíba free of charge. To do this, just contact the institution and register.
