Carbon footprint
Carbon footprint
For starters, do you know what CARBON is?

Carbon is the base element of Organic Chemistry, being responsible for most of the existing compounds in nature. It is present in Human DNA, in the soil, also in greenhouse gases and is essential for life, as it is part of life cycles, such as photosynthesis and cellular respiration.
What about the CARBON FOOTPRINT?
When we talk about carbon footprint, it is not about the element pure carbon, but a substance that is composed of carbon and oxygen: carbon dioxide gas (CO²), a gas of greenhouse effect.

The carbon footprint, then, refers to the amount of CO², which we emit in daily activities, such as:
– car combustion;
– use of the stove;
– food production (especially meat);
– by the use of electrical energy;
– consumption of products that generate this polluting gas during their manufacture;
– among others.CO²
When we calculate this daily emission and turn it into numbers, this result is the carbon footprint that we are leaving on the planet.

Why do I need to worry?
Because these gases are largely responsible for warming the Earth's temperature. If the planet's temperature continues to rise, we will have difficulty finding clean water, producing food and breathing clean air. Is it urgent!
By discovering the size of the carbon footprint of each person, community, company, etc., we can verify the impacts we are causing on the atmosphere, and thus, promote actions to compensate for these impacts and stop global warming. planet life and avoid overloading the Earth?
Today there are tools that help us to know how big our footprints are!
plant trees and offset your footprint!
Trees sequester CO² and produce oxygen; they are the filter of our planet!
With the Copaiba Association, you buy trees and we plant them for you to offset your footprint.
every R$20, a native tree is planted!

And now?
So far, you already know the impact of your footprint and that you can offset it by planting trees.
Going forward, how about reducing your carbon footprint? Here are some actions that can be done on a daily basis:
The electrical energy corresponds to 4,8% of national/world emissions. We can change that.
- Prefer LED lamps;
– Unplug the appliance from the socket when not in use;
– Remember to turn off the lights when leaving the environments;
– Don’t linger in the shower, especially if it’s electric
– Use renewable energy sources, such as photovoltaics, for example.

On the stove: Use the correct size mouthpiece; reduce potency after boiling; use pressure cookers to speed up cooking; maintain the stove regularly.
In the shower: Adjust the heater according to the weather, and avoid using the maximum temperature; avoid long baths and turn on the shower only when you are going to use it; keep your device clean and in good order.
The Transport Sector is responsible for 13% of national/world broadcasts.
– Prefer fueling with ethanol;
– Look for alternative ways to travel, such as sharing the vehicle with colleagues, for example.
– Try the bicycle as transport, especially in shorter distances;
– Exercise more, walking is one of the best exercises for the heart.
– Plant trees to neutralize your emissions.

– Consume locally produced products, reducing transport and/or logistics for the food to reach your table;
– Use less canned and industrialized foods;
– Feed your body with energy by introducing natural foods such as fruits, vegetables and seeds in your diet, reduce or eliminate the consumption of meat or products that come from monocultures; –
– Replace the use of plastic bags with returnable bags or ecobags;
– Reduce the consumption of disposables, opting for those items that can be reused.
