More than 11 hectares of forest are in the process of restoration in the Municipality of Itapira
The Verde Novo Project sponsored by Petrobras through the Petrobras Socioambiental program, in partnership with the Nascentes Program, is helping the reforestation of properties in the municipality of Itapira through technical support, donation of native tree seedlings and the subsidy between 85% and 95% of the amount invested by owners.
In all, more than 26 thousand seedlings were planted in 8 different properties. Rafael Ribeiro was one of the beneficiaries, 5,000 seedlings were planted on his property. The owner comments on the good results of this partnership “The benefits of having a forest on the property are intangible, it is something that brings long-term results, there are 2 hectares in the restoration process”.
The Verde Novo Project has been carried out by Copaíba for almost 10 years and has already reforested 250 hectares of Atlantic Forest in 15 municipalities between the south of Minas Gerais and the east of São Paulo. The partnership with the Nascentes program has been going on since 2018 and has helped and encouraged owners to take care of the springs on their properties.
More information can be found on the project website www.copaiba.org.br/verdenovo/ or through the institution's whatsapp (19) 9 9953-8382. Copaíba is located in the Municipality of Socorro, Bairro da Pedra Branca, where it produces native Atlantic Forest seedlings.
