{"id":8549,"date":"2025-03-26T16:59:57","date_gmt":"2025-03-26T19:59:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/copaiba.org.br\/?p=8549"},"modified":"2025-03-26T16:59:57","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T19:59:57","slug":"instituto-global-de-pesquisa-visita-associacao-copaiba-para-conhecer-acoes-de-restauracao-da-mata-atlantica-entre-os-estados-de-minas-gerais-e-sao-paulo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/copaiba.org.br\/en\/instituto-global-de-pesquisa-visita-associacao-copaiba-para-conhecer-acoes-de-restauracao-da-mata-atlantica-entre-os-estados-de-minas-gerais-e-sao-paulo\/","title":{"rendered":"Global research institute visits Copa\u00edba Association to learn about restoration efforts in the Atlantic Forest, between the states of Minas Gerais and S\u00e3o Paulo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Global research institute visits Copa\u00edba Association to learn about restoration efforts in the Atlantic Forest, between the states of Minas Gerais and S\u00e3o Paulo<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Members of WRI Global and WRI Brasil accompanied members of the association in restoration and native seedling production zones\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recognized as one of the main initiatives on the global scene to develop studies and implement solutions so that people have the essentials to live, to protect the environment and to restore nature, in favor of climate balance and the formation of resilient communities, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wribrasil.org.br\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">World Resources Institute<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (WRI) was present \u2014 through dozens of its members \u2014 at the headquarters of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/copaiba.org.br\/en\/copaiba\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Copaiba Environmental Association<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, over the last week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The visit aimed to provide WRI\u2019s foreign members with their first contact with the Atlantic Forest and to provide all other attendees with an insight into Copa\u00edba\u2019s initiatives in the areas of ecological restoration and native seedling production. During the visit, participants were given access to an institutional presentation of Copa\u00edba; learned about the restoration methods and the phases of implementation in degraded areas; watched and participated in seedling production; and were introduced to the institution\u2019s partner programs, such as the Verde Mel Project, carried out in partnership with the Ra\u00edzes do Mogi Gua\u00e7u Program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>More about Copaiba<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Created in 1999 by a group of friends who were concerned about the degradation of the Atlantic Forest in the municipality of Socorro-SP, the Copa\u00edba Environmental Association is a non-profit organization, qualified as a Civil Society Organization of Public Interest (OSCIP) and which operates in 19 municipalities in the eastern region of the State of S\u00e3o Paulo and southern Minas Gerais. Currently, the association promotes ecological restoration projects and programs; production of native seedlings; environmental education initiatives and participation in public policies. In total, more than 4 million seedlings have been produced, 380 partner landowners, 713 hectares have been restored and 40 thousand participants in Environmental Education experiences.
