{"id":8457,"date":"2025-03-03T12:25:40","date_gmt":"2025-03-03T15:25:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/copaiba.org.br\/?p=8457"},"modified":"2025-03-03T12:27:03","modified_gmt":"2025-03-03T15:27:03","slug":"em-acao-do-programa-raizes-do-mogi-guacu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/copaiba.org.br\/en\/em-acao-do-programa-raizes-do-mogi-guacu\/","title":{"rendered":"In action of the Roots of Mogi Gua\u00e7u program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>In an action of the Ra\u00edzes do Mogi Gua\u00e7u program, Copa\u00edba leads the restoration of forest areas with the planting of more than 20 thousand seedlings<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over the last few months, the initiative has contributed to the protection of ten springs, eleven streams and 5,000 meters of watercourse banks.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Between December 2024 and February 2025, the Copa\u00edba Environmental Association \u2014 a civil society organization whose mission is to conserve and restore the Atlantic Forest in the Peixe and Camanducaia river basins \u2014 planted more than 20,000 native seedlings in the city of Serra Negra. The action is part of the Ra\u00edzes do Mogi Gua\u00e7u Program, developed through a partnership between global institutions Sylvamo and WWF-Brazil with the aim of identifying, recovering, and restoring springs and areas of interaction between vegetation, soil, and watercourses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Responsible for implementing the program in the Rio do Peixe sub-basin region, Copa\u00edba had the partnership of mountain landowners Roberto Corsetti and Luciano Cavinato, whose properties total more than 29 hectares that have become new forests, through the initiative implemented over the last week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In total, the action in Serra Negra contributes to the protection of ten springs, twelve streams and 5 thousand meters of watercourse banks, according to Ana Paula Balderi, Ecological Restoration Coordinator of Copa\u00edba. \u201cWe are grateful for the partnership with the landowners, because through it we were able to restore a super important area for the Permanent Protection Areas (APPs). Serra Negra is part of the Water Circuit and is a priority area for ecological conservation that must advance throughout the Atlantic Forest biome,\u201d she points out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As the Coordinator points out, in order to achieve outstanding results such as those presented, the program relies on the support of landowners located in the Rio do Peixe sub-basin area who are interested in contributing to the ecological restoration of the region.
