Another 16,200 native seedlings are being planted in the sources and streams of the Peixe River<\/p>\n
Copa\u00edba started a new project approved by the Mogi Gua\u00e7u River Basin Committee, with funds from FEHIDRO: \u201cForest Restoration of springs and tributary streams of the Rio do Peixe\u201d (Mogi 476 \u2013 Contract n\u00ba 186\/2015).<\/p>\n
This project also has the support of the Clickarvore Program of Funda\u00e7\u00e3o SOS Mata Atl\u00e2ntica. It aims to contribute to the restoration of riparian forests in the Rio do Peixe basin, an important tributary of the Mogi Gua\u00e7u River.<\/p>\n
The benefited property belongs to the Tasca family, located in the Rio do Peixe neighborhood, in Socorro\/SP. Currently the areas are being fenced to isolate the cattle present on the property. This procedure prevents animals from invading Permanent Preservation Areas (APPs), as they trample on the youngest seedlings and often feed on them, causing damage to the area and especially to the water.<\/p>\n
As soon as the fencing of the areas is finished, the preparation of the soil for the planting of the seedlings will begin. These will contribute to the restoration of 10 hectares, around three springs and on the banks of three tributary streams of the Peixe River.<\/p>\n
These areas in the process of restoration are equivalent to 10 football fields, that is, more forests are being formed by the action of Copa\u00edba.<\/p>\n
This is one of the many actions aimed at conserving water resources that Copa\u00edba has been developing for 16 years. Since then, almost 70 hectares (700,000 m2) of native forest are forming, just in this microbasin.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
