{"id":4801,"date":"2017-06-05T15:07:42","date_gmt":"2017-06-05T18:07:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/copaiba.org.br\/?p=4801"},"modified":"2022-02-16T15:08:22","modified_gmt":"2022-02-16T18:08:22","slug":"copaiba-finaliza-o-plantio-de-16-200-mudas-nativas-na-bacia-do-rio-do-peixe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/copaiba.org.br\/en\/copaiba-finaliza-o-plantio-de-16-200-mudas-nativas-na-bacia-do-rio-do-peixe\/","title":{"rendered":"Copa\u00edba finishes planting 16,200 native seedlings in the Rio do Peixe basin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The project \u201cForest Restoration of springs and tributary streams of the Rio do Peixe\u201d, carried out by Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Ambientalista Copa\u00edba, with financial resources from FEHIDRO (State Fund for Water Resources of the State of S\u00e3o Paulo), through the Mogi Gua\u00e7u River Basin Committee started in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>This project aims to contribute to the restoration of riparian forests in the Rio do Peixe basin, an important tributary of the Mogi Gua\u00e7u River. To carry out this work, Copa\u00edba has the support of the Clickarvore Program of Funda\u00e7\u00e3o SOS Mata Atl\u00e2ntica.<\/p>\n<p>Since the beginning of the project, 16,200 tree seedlings of native Atlantic Forest species have been planted around three springs and on the banks of three tributary streams of the Rio do Peixe, in Socorro, SP.<\/p>\n<p>These seedlings, in a few years&#039; time, will form a 10-hectare forest, that is, another 100,000 m<sup>2<\/sup>\u00a0of areas are being restored by the institution. This is equivalent to an area larger than 10 official football fields.<\/p>\n<p>For Copa\u00edba, forest restoration in these areas is essential for the conservation of the Atlantic Forest.
