This week Copa\u00edba received another group of students interested in deepening their knowledge about the environment and the importance of nature conservation.<\/p>\n
The participants were students from the 3rd year of Elementary School at the Benedita Geralda Municipal School, in Socorro\/SP. The group, full of energy, had the opportunity to visit the facilities of the Copa\u00edba headquarters and also the Viveiro Florestal.<\/p>\n
It's fun and educational at the same time. Students learn and discover processes that occur in nature in a playful and practical way. The approach ranges from the dispersion of fruits and seeds, through all stages of seedling production, to the functions of the riparian forest. With dynamics and their own experience for a few hours at Copa\u00edba, the students get excited and share what they learn with each other.<\/p>\n
Generally, the themes are worked on in the classroom with the teachers and, arriving at Copa\u00edba, the study is complemented by the practice experienced by the students. In this case, the class teacher, Fernando Montini, is developing a project with the school. \u201cThe idea came from an article developed by us, masters students at ESCAS \u2013 Escola Superior de Conserva\u00e7\u00e3o Ambiental e Sustentabilidade, which deals with how to work with scientific education based on environmental issues, approaching with students from how an environmental problem is analyzed, what are the data collected, how to proceed and which professionals are involved in the subject\u201d, explains Fernando. Thus, the forest restoration work developed by Copa\u00edba complements one of the contents worked by the professor.<\/p>\n
Copa\u00edba welcomes groups throughout the year to participate in these environmental experiences.
