This is the principle of equality that is fundamental to democracy, in which everyone has the same rights and duties. “All are equal before the law, without distinction of any kind”, according to art. 5th. Of the Federal Constitution.

However, as individuals, we are different from each other and it is imperative that we know that in our society, everyone has different needs, desires, expectations, values and abilities.

What makes us understand these differences is the relationship we have with each other. It is necessary to know to understand. In the same space where there are differences, it is possible to exchange experiences, learn, teach and live with these differences.

“Social inclusion” is there, at school, at work, in our daily lives. The inclusive perspective is the result of a historical process. And this movement is growing more and more. Fortunately, within the school environment many advances have been made, but the challenges are still many.

For Maria Teresa Eglér Mantoan, pedagogue, master and doctor in Education from UNICAMP, one of the greatest specialists in school inclusion in the country, in inclusive education all students with and without disabilities have the opportunity to live and learn together. “Inclusion implies a change in the educational perspective, as it does not only affect students with disabilities and those with learning difficulties, but everyone else, so that they can succeed in the general educational chain”, quotes Mantoan in his book “School Inclusion. What is? Why? How to make?".

There are specific laws for each area of inclusion and much has evolved in this regard. But regardless of the laws, we have to remember our role as citizens in relation to social inclusion, without discrimination, violence or negligence. Let's break the barriers of inequality, contributing to the construction of a free, fair and solidary society, in which everyone has the same rights and the same opportunities.

Social inclusion in Copaíba

As part of Copaíba's Environmental Education activities, environmental experiences are carried out, which sensitize young people and adults about the importance of nature conservation. These activities are part of Verde Novo, a Copaíba execution project, which is sponsored by Petrobras, through the Petrobras Socio-environmental Program.

Increasingly, inclusion has been an important and recognized point within the institution's actions. Copaíba has adapted and received several groups, including people with disabilities. For Copaíba, the experience has been fantastic. “Being able to see the faces of the students and the positive responses to our work reinforces, more and more, that we are on the right path”, comments the Environmental Educator of Copaíba, Tatiana Oliveira.

These and other news can be followed on the facebook/associacaoambientalistacopaiba page or on the website www.copaiba.org.br

Somos todos iguais!
