Copa\u00edba Reserve, in Socorro receives RPPN title and recognition<\/em><\/p>\n

In day\u00a0<\/i>On 01\/31, in celebration of the National Day of Private Reserves of Natural Heritage (RPPNs), the ceremony was held to deliver the titles of the four new Reserves in the State of S\u00e3o Paulo. The new conservation units are located in the cities of Pindamonhangaba, Socorro, Indaiatuba and S\u00e3o Jos\u00e9 do Barreiro, and total 140.09 hectares of protected area. Now, with these new units, the State of S\u00e3o Paulo has 99 of these areas officially recognized, 51 of which by Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Florestal, 47 by ICMBio and one by the City of S\u00e3o Paulo. And there are 24 requests for recognition in progress with a potential area of 2,317.97 hectares.<\/p>\n

For the Secretary of Infrastructure and Environment, Marcos Penido, the existence of RPPNs shows that the partnership of these citizens, owners of the RPPNs, with SIMA attests to the purposes of the State Government, through all its secretariats, to work together, in integrated way, with the spirit of doing. \u201cWe have to add, with this spirit of citizenship, looking to the next, because only then will we be able to fulfill our goals. All the Government's actions are for the protection of the environment and, above all, the safety of the people of S\u00e3o Paulo\u201d, he emphasized.<\/p>\n

The event was held at the headquarters of the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Environment and was attended by the secretary Marcos Penido; the executive director of Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Florestal, Rodrigo Levkovicz; the director of Institutional Relations of FREPESP (Federation of Private Ecological Reserves of the State of S\u00e3o Paulo), Ant\u00f4nio Carioba; of the cabinet advisor
\nEduardo Trani; the president of CETESB, Patr\u00edcia Iglecias; and the general commander of the Environmental Military Police, Col. Homer by Giorge Cerqueira.<\/p>\n

RPPN Copa\u00edba<\/strong><\/p>\n

RPPN Copa\u00edba was born from a joint dream of Copa\u00edba itself and the donors of our current property. The desire to contribute to a better world and nature conservation has made an area of more than 20,000 m2 of forest to become an important Conservation Unit for the region.<\/p>\n

The entire area of the Reserve was restored by Copa\u00edba and this RPPN will be used to encourage new Conservation Units to be created in our region, in addition to already contributing to the awareness of society about the importance of restoration and conservation of the Atlantic Forest, through experiences environmental issues that are already carried out through Verde Novo, a project carried out by Copa\u00edba, sponsored by Petrobras, through the Socio-environmental Program.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
