The municipality of Bueno Brand\u00e3o has become participatory and present in terms of environmental restoration. Since last year (2018), the number of landowners interested in reforesting their rural properties has increased. One of these owners is Jo\u00e3o Armando Lopes de Oliveira.<\/p>\n
Jo\u00e3o got to know the city of Bueno Brand\u00e3o on a trip with his family \u201cI came to walk around the city and I was enchanted by the mountains and landscapes. When I had the opportunity, I bought the land. Now, after a few years, he wanted to reforest the property, even before building. There was almost no forest around here.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jo\u00e3o got to know, through a neighbor, an initiative that supports landowners in forest restoration. The action is carried out by Verde Novo, a project carried out by Copa\u00edba, sponsored by Petrobras, through the Petrobras Socio-environmental Program. The neighbor, who has already participated in the project, received the native seedlings, supplies and all technical advice to recover the forest on the property.<\/p>\n
It was along the same path that Jo\u00e3o managed to plant 2,100 seedlings of native Atlantic Forest trees in an area of 2.1 hectares on his property. Jo\u00e3o received technical support for the preparation of the area, guidance on the day of planting and for two years he will have follow-up and guidance on how to care for the seedlings until they are already big and no longer need care.<\/p>\n
