Conserving forests, recovering new areas, connecting landscapes and people, improving the region's environmental quality, enjoying the different and essential ecosystem services that nature offers us, breathing fresh air, listening to and seeing wild birds, all of this is directly related to the human well-being and improving the quality of our lives.<\/p>\n
Who has never stopped to take a photo or simply contemplate a bird in the midst of nature? And think about the feeling it gives us?<\/p>\n
It is about the recovery of ecological processes and the return of wildlife that we are going to talk about here.<\/p>\n
Forest recovery is a slow, laborious process and requires investments and commitments from many people and institutions. It is not overnight that we form new forests \u2013 forest restoration takes years to reach its most advanced stage. But the direct and indirect benefits are really significant for every society. The water that springs back from a spring, the riverbank that no longer flows, the soil that becomes fertile again, the rich biodiversity that emerges back together with the native vegetation.<\/p>\n
There are countless reports from landowners who are partners with Copa\u00edba about the sighting of birds in areas undergoing restoration. \u201cWe have footage of the real parrot, in one of the areas that have been restored. The forest is forming and, with it, the birds begin to reappear looking for shelter and food\u201d, says Fl\u00e1via Balderi, Executive Secretary of Copa\u00edba.<\/p>\n
In one of the partner properties of this work, in Monte Alegre do Sul, the practice of birdwatching has already been implemented. Bird watching there has become a routine for the owners and visitors who gather there, especially to record beautiful images of common and rare bird species alike. \u201cThe region was very devastated, but Monte Alegre had a good environmental recovery and tourism, especially rural, gained strength. At the Pousada you can see 15 species of hummingbirds alone\u201d, comments Gonzaga Truzzi, owner of Pousada da Fazenda and a partner in forest restoration.<\/p>\n
