Showing that the region is at the forefront of the world in terms of environmental conservation.
The journalists came to learn about the work to protect and restore forests in permanent preservation areas (APP) developed by Copaíba. The focus of the report, which is already available in German, English and Spanish, is to show the climate changes resulting from capitalism and what must be done to avoid a climate catastrophe.
“The Atlantic Forest is one of the most biodiverse biomes on the planet, it has a great wealth of species and, at the same time, it is the most threatened. The conservation, restoration and planting work is aimed at conserving the forest in the region”, says Flávia Balderi.
An institution that started as a teenager's dream and few resources and, today, 21 years later, has its own nursery with a capacity of more than 400 thousand seedlings a year, in a donated property and has great partners in the execution of several projects.
One of the programs being carried out by Copaíba is Raízes do Mogi Guaçu, which has the cooperation of WWF-Brasil and International Paper, and focuses on restoring at least 200 hectares of forests in a region with high forest fragmentation and high water risk.
The DW Global team went to the property of André Rezende Jardim and Julia Rezende Jardim, who are rural owners who are partners with Raízes do Mogi, and have already planted 4,300 seedlings. They recently purchased the property and joined the program aimed at conserving water on their property, through the planting of native and fruit-bearing seedlings.
“The vegetation cover provided by these trees in two or three years protects the soil and prevents the erosion process. Rainwater will penetrate directly into the surface and this will allow the springs to recover”, commented the owner, who will receive technical support for two years.
Another project mentioned in the report is the Conservador da Mantiqueira program, in which Copaíba operates in the city of Extrema (MG). This program has the objective of conserving the Mantiqueira mountain range, an important region for the conservation of water resources to maintain the great capitals.

The report can be accessed on the website https://www.dw.com/es/global-3000-el-magac%C3%ADn-de-la-globalizaci%C3%B3n/av-56316740

[1

post-3889","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-sem-categoria
["GET
